NO STYLE

The identity of this Ed Ruscha exhibition is inspired by his philosophy, "It's better to have no style than any style," and is centered around the concept of "No Style." In particular, the exhibition focuses on Ruscha's statement in an interview: "The background is just a stage for the words. It just conveys the mood." Capturing this mood lies at the heart of the exhibition.

The title wall of the exhibition features AI-generated background images. These images are designed to reflect his techniques. At the center of the wall, a question related to daily life is displayed, reflecting how Ruscha often drew inspiration from his everyday experiences. Visitors can answer the question using their phones, and AI generates images based on their responses.  The generated words and images are then displayed on the title wall in real time.

All background images were created using CANVA, with prompts carefully designed to produce visual elements tailored to each question. Visitors can take home a postcard of the image they created, which can also serve as the cover for the exhibition brochure. Additionally, a website allows visitors to explore and view others’ responses and generated images.

This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with Ed Ruscha's artistic world on a deeper level through interactive elements, creating a meaningful connection with his work.

Giwa

Sikhye is a traditional Korean beverage made from malt water and rice, known for its health benefits and cherished by many over generations. However, the existing designs for Sikhye packaging typically feature a yellow background with rice motifs, which fails to fully convey the rich taste and cultural value of this drink. To overcome these limitations, I have created a new packaging design that captures the essence of Korean tradition while also making it suitable as a gift. This packaging reinterprets the value of tradition in a modern way, aiming to share the deep flavor and heartfelt sincerity of Sikhye with a wider audience.

TypexCon Pdx

The official theme of TypeCon 2024 in Portland focuses on digital elements and modern typography experiments. To reflect this digital vibe, I used a pixelated typeface and arranged various fonts together to show a gathering of people coming together to explore and discuss typography. This design aims to capture both the theme of the event and the inclusive atmosphere of TypeCon.

This video shares important information on how guns create more danger instead of providing safety. Guns often lead to more conflict and risk, turning everyday situations into potential threats. Through facts and real-life examples, it highlights the negative impact of guns in our communities and shows just how dangerous they can be. Instead of relying on weapons for protection, this video emphasizes the importance of creating a truly safe environment by building gun-free communities. It encourages viewers to think carefully about the role of guns and imagine a safer, more trusting society without them.
